September 2007

So yesterday, some friends and i had a round table discussion on a very serious topic...

Why are the Yankees so really really ridiculously good looking?

I mean, i always wonder why other teams hate us so much. Sure it has something to do with being the most storied franchise in the history of sports, a monument park that reads like the who is who of baseball legends, the 26 Championship rings, having one of the best, if not the best, farm system in the majors, getting to play in New York City- the greatest city in the world and selling out almost every game, our roster of future legends, oh and something to do with the payroll too, but there was one more reason and i couldn't quite pinpoint it for a while. And then suddenly, like a bus going 90 miles per hour in the wrong direction, IT HIT ME! They hate us because we are beautiful, honey!! :-D

I mean, come on! Its pretty much common knowledge that we have hands down the best looking team in the majors. No other team compares. I'm talking guys that have a general wide consensus of being good looking, not guys that just a few scattered fans have managed to get adjusted to (Randy Johnson need not apply....lol, i kid i kid :-D).

Let's take a look, shall we?

Derek Jeter.

Is there any young girl in the tri-state area who hasnt had dreams of marrying Derek Jeter? I mean, at one point, i was convinced EVERY girl, her mother, and her grandmother, wanted to marry Derek Jeter! GeezLouise! Thats a lot of good looking mojo right there!

Alex Rodriguez.

Oh man, A-Rod's goodlooking-ness is just out of this freaking world! He's the definition of really really really ridiculously good-looking. Zoolander himself doesn't stand a chance! I mean, even those who hate him have to admit that the man is sure blessed with some good genes....and beauty products! Ha ha. Yes, A-Rod is a pretty boy, but thats ok with me and every other woman who fantasizes about him as much as i know they do! lol.

Andy Pettitte.

This is the hotness that means the most to me!! *grins* :-D

Robinson Cano.

I have to say...its that smile that won my heart over. =)

Melky Carbera.

Kyle Farnsworth.

(cant find a good big picture of him)

Andy Phillips.

Carl Pavano.

Yeah yeah, i know he's not our favorite crayon in the box, but man is he hot!! Yes, admit it. Carl Pavano is total hotness ;-)

Johnny Damon.

*Feel free to suggest more really really ridiculously good looking Yankees i may have missed.

Now have you ever seen a team with more really really ridiculously good looking players? I thought not!

Disclaimer: You should only take this post half seriously. Ha ha. I'm just having fun!

Now on to important matters =):

The Mets.
I watched the Phillies/Nationals game yesterday of course rooting against the Phillies. Very excited that they lost and man did the Mets win!! John Maine pitching a no-no into the 8th..19 hits??? My question is, what happened to this Mets team over the last week. Where was the enthusiasm they played with yesterday over the last week??? Anywhoo, lets just hope they win today and the Phillies lose. Then this can be all over. I dont have the best feelings for a tie-breaker between those two...

As for our Yankees...
Important ALDS news jacked from Yankees.com...

NEW YORK -- The Yankees will open the American League Division Series on Thursday in Cleveland, a result of the Red Sox's selection of a longer scheduling option following their clinching of home-field advantage during the playoffs.

Boston selected to play the eight-day Division Series 'B' after their victory over the Twins and the Indians' loss at Kansas City. The option leaves the Yankees to play Games 1 and 2 at Cleveland on Thursday and Friday before returning to New York for Game 3.

The selection has ramifications on the Yankees' projected pitching rotation for the ALDS. Right-hander Chien-Ming Wang and left-hander Andy Pettitte will pitch New York's first two games as expected, and the Yankees continue to hope that right-hander Roger Clemens will be healthy enough to start Game 3 at Yankee Stadium.

Without an extra off-day, though, the Yankees cannot follow through on their idea to bring back both Wang and Pettitte to pitch in Games 4 and 5. Instead, a fourth starter -- possibly right-hander Mike Mussina -- will enter the equation for a possible Game 4, while Wang or Pettitte could come back to pitch a potential Game 5.

I'm still just glad we don't have to play the Angels in the first round.

The postseason couldnt get here quickly enough. I wish we could skip today's game and just get right to it, lol. I feel the best about this year than i've felt about our previous years. Let's hope my gut feeling is right =).

Let's Go Yankees!!!! :-D

I just have to say...i really just cant believe the Cubs made the playoffs!!

What is this, like the twilight zone? The NL is wild wild wild right now.

The freaking Cubs made the playoffs. Yes, thats right, those bottom feeding Cubs are on top this year. Lou Pinella must feel quite accomplished. Remember the Cubbies last year? Yeah, me neither. Thats cause they didnt make a sound. Ha ha. And guess who's not going to the playoffs in that division: The Cards. Wow. What a year.

The NL is wild. The D-Backs clinched a playoff spot also last night. That means even if the Pads were to zoom past them for the division, they will clinch the Wild Card. So all hopes the Mets have right now is the division.

Wow, i never thought we'd be having this conversation. I am really sad for the Mets :-(. See, i am a compassionate person, cause seeing the long faces of my Mets fans friends made me sad, while i'm sure if it were the Yankees in this position, they'd be taunting me like they did last year when we fell to Detroit. But i dont have a problem with the Mets, never did. I might joke that they are the second class team, the lil brother than hopes he can catch up to big brother, lol, but otherwise, its all love. Our colors might be different and our logos differently shaped, but in the end, we rep the same city, New York City.

I really really really hope God performs a miracle in the form of the Mets winning the last two games and the Phillies losing theirs and the Mets winning the division. Or the Mets winning next 2 and Phillies losing 1 and then they have to play a tie-breaker and Mets win.  Or even, the Phillies may lose their next 2 and the Mets win just one and then there's a tie breaker. 3 possible scenarios there, God please make one of them happen! The Mets can't NOT go to the playoffs. That'd be horrible!! *crosses fingers*

I know chances are dim right now, but listen to this woman...

Well, back to the AL.

Last night's loss was dumb. I watched the entire game, and thats all i've gotta say about it. Thank God i didnt watch it with too much emotion or i'd be pissed right now. It was definitely a game we should have won to say the least. But i'm not mad at you, Mo, these things happen. Just dont let it happen in the playoffs.

Our loss last night enabled the Sawx to clinch the AL East title, their first since '95. Wow, congrats to them for finally breaking the loser second place spell. Haha. No biggie there. I admit i was kinda sad to watch our magical run of 9 straight division titles come to an end....I'd be lying to say we didnt want the division, but let me reiterate, after such a tough season in which many ruled us out of the running as early as May and virtually all summer, i am just glad we made it in. And you know, we made the Sox squirm while we did it. Going from being 14.5 games to now just 2 games behind, i think thats tremendous. We might have lost the division, but we didnt go out like *******. We gave those Sawx a run for their money, so i am content and proud of my guys =)

And now that we got all that out the way, we can settle down and prepare for the postseason. Man am i glad we dont get to see those Angels in the first round. Certainly not taking anything away from the Indians, but i've said it time and time again, the Angels are the only team that has succeeded in puting the fear of Jesus in me in this decade of baseball. Do i need to go back to the post seasons we've had and crumbled to them? I'd rather not. Please Red Sox, you can have those Angels! Please whoop their ***** for us ;-) ha!

This is the most exciting time in baseball, but at the same time, sad. Exciting cause its the postseason, duh! But sad times cause i am reminded of the long winter to come when i'd have to do without my Yankees baseball. Thats when i survive on watching encore games and Yankeeography while nursing my disease that i have termed BWS. Yes, i "started" a disease, lol. BWS = Baseball Withdrawal Syndrome. It hits me hard, man! This disease is no joke. BWS is a very serious disease, one not to be taken lightly! Symptoms include, nervous twitching, restlessless, continously flipping channels hoping to find something worth watching now that baseball is off, getting misty eyed everytime ESPN shows reels from the previous season, watching all programming on YES like a loser, searching Getty Images and Wire Images tryna find out what the Yankees have been up to in their personal time, and it goes on.

Anywhoo, we still have a month of exciting post season baseball left before BWS rears its ugly head. And lets hope this is the year the Yankees actually give me something to be happy about this off season. Yes, the chase for #27 is officially on again. =)

Let's Go Yankees!!!!!! :-D

The Mets.

Wow, i'd really be sad if the Mets dont pull it together and miss the playoffs. :-(

Come on Mets, you can do it!

Ok, thats all i've to say for tonite. Back to watching the game. Farnsie just came in. He's hot =)

Notes on division vs wildcard: We all know it'd be pretty swell to win the division, but as long as we are in, after this heck of a season we've had, thats all that matter to me. Hey, maybe God wants us to win the Wild Card so we may follow theme with 3 of the last 6 World Series winners being Wild Card =). Who knows.

Raise your champagne glasses!! This deserves a toast :-D

We did it guys!!! Or should i say, they did it. Heck, we all did it :-D.

I am sooo proud of our guys!! These pictures bring forreal tears into my eyes. I swear, i wouldnt trade ANYTHING in the world for being a Yankee fan . I love this team and this sport so much more than words can describe. Through the ups and downs that this team has been through, especially this year, i will always be proud of them.

After the game ended last night, it was like a huge burden had been lifted off my shoulders. I immediately reached for my phone, called up a few friends to scream in their ears, and then sent a tex message to each Yankee fan in my phone book. Word for word, here's what the text message said:

"Congratulations to all my Yankee fan friends!! :-D We are officially in with our win tonite! Remember being down 14.5 games? They (ESPN bum analysts especially) said we'd never make it but look at us now!! In your face, Steve Phillips (cant stand him). Its been a long tough season, but we made it through!! Now lets get that #27!! Yahhh!!! :-D"

That text says it all.

What a roller coaster ride this season has been. Man, i thought it couldnt get tougher than last year, but this season knocked me upside the head!! Wow. Can you imagine at one point we were beneath the Devil Rays??? But yet, i never lost faith in my team. I did have some times in the year when my optimism levels were at all time lows, but in the end, optimism wins again!!

Man, i'm proud of these guys. Everyone...from B. Cash to the skipper Joe, to all the young guys that stepped up, to Posada, to Jeet, to Deki, to Bobby, my Andy, Alex, Robbie, Mo, Farnsie, Melky, man...everybody!! Even Scottie before he left (i miss him :-()....i'm soooo proud of all these guys!!!

But this is only the beginning. We still have a lot of work to do because in true Yankee tradition, we always strive for excellence, and nothing less. You've gotta take baby steps of course, but in the end, our goal is number 27.

I'm gonna take it a day at a time till then. Just enjoy it as it comes. =)

Everyday just became a celebration!!!

Let's Go Yankees!!!

Nice Job Joba!!!

Boy can that boy throw!!

Magic number to clinch post season berth = 2.
2 back in loss column being the Sox. Woo-hoo.
Good day overall =)

Let's Go Yankees!!!

Time for those magic numbers again!

Last night's game was pretty draining, frustrating, roller coaster ride. Just like the night before it. But we prevailed, same night the Sox clinched a berth in the postseason. Good for them.
Our magic number for the wild card now stands at 3. Three more wins and we are in the post season as well. Just 3 more wins out of 8 games left and we are good to go. Well, 3 wins from us or 3 losses from the Tigers. Ok, i'm not saying this right, LOL, what i mean is a combination that equals 3 of wins by us or losses by the Tigers clinches us a post season berth! There, i think i finally got the terminology right. Ha ha. Phewww. Every year, the magic number thing hurts my head. And you'd think it'd be different with me being a math dork, eh. LOL. Too much math hurts your brain cells. Stay away from Math folks! lol, j/k.

Ok, so the Angels need one more game to clinch a playoff berth. If there's any team i DON'T want to face in the post season, its them. So what do we need to do to avoid them at all costs? LOL. I'm not all that afraid of the Sox and neither am i of the Indians. Actually, C.C. scares me a bit, but thats it. Speaking of which, i'm kind of proud of the Indians team for winning the division this year. I really really dont like the Tigers (well, after last year, lol), so glad to see them on their way to being knocked off upside their head.

As for the Mets, in a strange "hometown love" kind of way, i am rooting for them. I dont really have a big problem with the Mets has i have said before. Actually, most Yankee fans dont have a big problem with the Mets. Its the Mets fans that have problems with the Yankees, which i have deduced with a LOT of them stems from an inferiority complex, or maybe a rebellious need to stand up to the "big bad winning team". LOL. I have lots of Mets fans friends. We tease each other back and forth, but in the end, its all love. I love the team they have for the most part (except for Pedro and Lo Duca). How could i hate of David Wright and Jose Reyes?? I love those guys, they are great! Then good ol Willie Randolph...13 of his 18 playing seasons as a beloved Yankee...and i love what he does as a manager. How could i hate that team?? The only time i'd root against the Mets is if they are playing against us or if a positive outcome for them will affect us in anyway. Otherwise, go Mets! Lets hope they manage to hold on and keep those Phillies away!

Its gonna be a very exciting week of baseball to say the very least! I'll be watching!! =)

*sniff sniff*

Do you smell that???

Smells awfully to me like...eer, i dont know...maybe...

1978!!

Ha ha :-D.
Bucky effing Dent yo!!! :-D

'Member him? ;-)

Alright alright, i wont get too cocky or make to count my chicken before they hatch.
But if this happens, YOU CANT SAY I DIDNT TELL U SOOOOOO!! The eternal optimist wins again :-D

Man, there are only 10 games left in the regular season. I guarantee you i will be on the edge of my seat with my fingers crossed for each one. Phewwww. I love that with the Indians sweeping the Tigers, we almost almost have the wild card in the bag, BUT, in true Yankee fashion, i am greedy and i want the best. I WANT THE DIVISION!!!

Let's Go Yankees!!!!

PS. Mo, I really truly love you with all my heart, but please please please stop tryna give this 24 yr old a heart attack! I beg of you! LOL.

PPS. And people wonder why i love Andy Pettitte. *dreamy eyed* lol. Thanks to this image and the brilliant stud that he is on the diamond, i'll sleep well tonite ;-)

Congrats on 200 Andy!!!! =)

OMG, amazing at-bat by Jeet!! Go Jeeet!!! :-D

Homerun Baby!!!

People still pitch to this man???

Homers #50, 51, 52, all within a 24 hr span.

Incredible!

I'll crawl out of my hole to say this...

MVP Anyone? ;-)

2 homeruns in one inning? Who does that?? *smirk* ;-)

++++

Losing 2 out of 3 to the D-Rays was not the business, but taking 2 out of 3 from the Mariners was =). 3 atop the WC and we got the Royals coming in. Now, i've learned to stay humble and never underestimate any team in this sport. But i've just gotta say, its gonna be an exciting home stretch and i cant wait to watch it all unfold.

Let's Go Yankees!!! :-D
