Why i havent been around...
In case anyone cared, LOL. This is what happened: In a rebellion against Cablevision, i cut off my cable.
I know right, who would have thunk it? I've been living without cable for almost a month now for the very FIRST time in my life.
It all started when i opened last months cable bill and got frustrated beyond belief. Lo and Behold, my bill was $182. I had the little triple play package that Cablevision offers and have had it for almost a year now. But problem was, that only came with IO basic service, so off course, i had to up it to the Gold package, being that i do entertain a lot in my apartment. But then it dawned on me: I pay all this money for cable when i only watch 5 channels religiously: YES, ESPN, CNN, MTV Hits and VH1 (add HBO when Entourage is on). So whats the point of having 500+ channels when i only watch 5? And i also noticed that these guests that i have, i.e. friends and family, that are the reason i have the gold package actually also never really watched those channels when they came to my house. They usually settle and watch whatever i am watching, which is always either of those 5 channels i listed (i know, i'm boring and predictable, lol).
So it hit me that i had been in essence flushing my money down the toilet for almost a year now. So that made me really angry, more so at myself than at Cablevision, but i decided to take the anger out on them! I was hoping if i stump my feet a lil and threaten to switch to Direct TV, they'd give me some sweetners to make me stay like Sprint always does when i threaten to switch to Verizon
.
But nope, they said sayonara. And just like that, my cable was gone!!!
So thats why i havent posted in forever, because i've not been able to watch the games. I only gameday when i can, but we all know its no fun to gameday.
Going without cable has really tested my will power. No one believed i could live without watching Yankees games and Sportscenter. To tell you the truth, i didnt believe i could either, lol. Well, now that this one month experiment is over and i've saved $100, i think i'll just bow out gracefully and reconnect my cable. If anything, get basic cable so i can at least still watch YES and ESPN.
I must say though, its amazing how much you can get done with your time when you dont have the distraction of cable, ha ha. Off course, i dont consider YES and ESPN distractions (more like life essentials), i'm mostly referring to me watching music videos on MTV Hits and VH1 religiously. I was a bit addicted to both those channels, simply because even though i personally have no musical talent, music is a big part of my life. Especially now that i have graduated, I'd have blocks of time when i do nothign but sit around in my living room and do nothing but watch music videos and maybe occasionally get up to dance along, lol. But since cutting off my cable, i've been a lot more productive with my time. I've been studying for some exams (GMAT and FRM) and also been going to the gym quite religiously. I'm slowly building up my strength and endurance back to the way it ways during the days of me quite the athlete myself (soccer, track and basketball). And off course, working on my fitness. I've found the gym to also be quite addictive. LOL. I guess u can pick up the hint that when i like something a lot, i often get addicted to it, ha ha.
Anyway, enough rambling about whats going on in my boring life...
In Yankee news, you all know how things have been going in the Universe :-D. I know you know i couldnt be happier!!
I dont want to bore anyone with the rehash of what they already know, but lets just say, all those who counted the Yankees out are probably biting their tongue right now. Ha ha ha.
With 62 games (minus that suspended Orioles game) left in the season, and 6.5 back in the division and 4.5 back in the wildcard, i hope those naysayers can finally stop naysaying now and concede the fact that the Yankees will never roll over and play dead!! Oh no no no. As cliche as it might sound, they are the motherf*&cking Yankees, NEVER count them out!!!
Let's Goooo Yankees!!!
PS. How about that A-Rod ;-) ha ha ha, thats my boy!!!!
