9 in a row and the sleeping giant has awoken! =)
Joy to the world, the Yankees win again! :-D

Even when we lose 7 in a row *cough*April*cough*, i've never tried to hide my Yankee pride. I'm a stick it out kind of girl in anything i do. Always there through the good times and the bad. My love is never "conditional". So i know whatever happens, i will always be in support of my Yankees, and i will always sing their praise with pride in my heart. Yes, even when they lose 7 in a row and are tied for last place with the Devil Rays. Sure i might grumble and have a mental battle with my optimism levels, but you'll never catch me giving up or throwing them under a bus or anything like that.
But i've got to admit, its a much much better feeling to be a fan when your team has won 9 in a row and has risen from the depths of mediocrity to become the current hottest team in baseball
. *ah* joy. I walk with an extra bounce in my step these days. My friends and fam have become accustomed to knowing that the way the Yankees are doing has an effect on how broad my smile will be from day to day. When the Yankees are doing well, my smile is more like in the profile picture to your right. When they are not, i still smile, but not as widely as that. ha ha.
So you've all heard, seen and read all about it by now; yesterday afternoon, the Yankees, led by Andy Pettitte, Alex Rodriguez and Hideki Matsui (always my favorites :-D) kicked Arizona around a bit for their 9th win in a row. A season high for any MLB team this year. The feeling is indescribable. Not only because we are winning, but because, on this day, right about 3 weeks ago, pretty much everyone, except the truly optimistic, was ready to count the Yankees out of the pennant race.

AL East Standings - June 14th

Yankees 33-31 -7.5
Blue Jays 31-34 -10
Devil Rays 29-35 -11.5
Orioles 29-37 -12.5
How absurd to think this team will roll over and play dead. Nope, not my Yankees. And i say that in the most braggadocious way possible :-D. Yes, that Yankee cockiness that is so often spoken about exists within me right now. Oh yeah. Why shouldnt it? Its all part of the allure of being a fan ;-). You sulk when your team is losing, and you brag when your team is winning. Its all in the name of fun! =)
But anyway, let me float back down to earth and talk about the upcoming weekend Subway Series!!!!! I am always so excited about the Subway Series! Being from NY, its inevitable not to have friends who are Mets fans, although i wonder why i am friends with such people (i am totally kidding, i love all my Mets fans friends :-D ha ha). The Subway Series is always a good time to talk smack to each other. If you know me in person, you know i am a big smack talker. Ha ha. When it comes to sporting events, or anything physical, i always talk a lot of smack, lol. I'm such a tomboy. I get super competitive and confident, to the point i'd talk smack to Michael Jordan if i challenge him to a game of one-on-one hoops (even though i know my hand might never even get to touch the ball, lol
). Its all friendly fun though, nothing ever serious.
So anyway, one of my friends who is as huge a Mets fan as i am a Yankees fan has been tormenting me all season about how bad the Yankees had been doing. Fair enough. The Mets were on their hot streak, and we were busy losing 50 in a row.
But my how the script has flipped.
I posted this comment on his myspace yesterday:
Jun 14 2007 2:16P
looks like the scripts a flipping ;-)
last 10 games,
yankees 9-1
mets 1-9
who's laughing now? :-D
The Mets, are coming to our town this weekend. should be fun smacking them around some more :-D NO MERCY!!
Ha ha.
Ok, for diplomacy reasons, i dont think the Mets are gonna be smacked around or anything like that...thats just my thrash talking side speaking, lol. I do think with the way the team is banged up, a sweep is not absolutely inconceivable, and 2 out of 3 is pretty reasonable to expect. I'll be fine with a series win, off course. But i'd love a sweep. Just so i can rub it in my friends faces some more :-D. I kept telling them, they never know when the tide would turn, when they were making fun of me and the Yankees earlier this season, they werent thinking about the fact that its a looooooooooooong season, 162 games, during which ANYTHING can happen. I've learned a long time ago never to count my chickens before they hatch, especially when it comes to baseball, which i am now convinced is totally unpredictable. As a statistics student, i've always tried to predict the outcomes with stats and numbers, but that only works like 49.87% of the time, lol. You are only gonna cause yourself brain cramps if you try to predict this game. Just sit back, watch and have a good time. Thats all. =)
Match-ups for this weekend:
| Fri 6/15 | NYM (Perez) @ NYY (Clemens) | 7:05 ET |
| Sat 6/16 | NYM (Glavine) @ NYY (Clippard) | 1:05 ET |
| Sun 6/17 | NYM (Hernandez) @ NYY (Wang) | 8:05 ET |
Its gonna be in no way shape or form a walk in the park for either team, but i'm sure it will be packed with lots of energy as only the Subway Series can pack.
Lets Go Yankees!!!!!!! :-D
++++
By the way, you'll have to excuse me a second as i have a very girlie moment :-D. I caught the post game interview of Andy Pettitte yesterday after the game, and i swear i fell in love all over again
.

Everything about him is PERFECT. I get so giggly and dreamy eyed when he talks. That lil accent of his drives me crazy! Ha ha. Its like the high school crush that just refuses to go away. I was sooooo sad when he left us to go to the Astros, but for some reason, i knew he'd be back. It was like...i never quite let go of hope...i knew it wasnt the end, we didnt have any "closure" (do i sound crazy yet, LOL). I still remember that day back in December last year when i heard the news of his return. Ha ha. I'd never forget how filled with joy i was :-D! Its like the cheesy love story of the long lost love returning back into the arms of his lover... except he doesnt really know who i am
. But i know who he is, thats for sure. Ha ha. And today, the perfect man of my dreams turns 35.
Happy Birthday Andy!!!!
I hope you have the greatest day of your life today, and i hope the team wins this one for you!! I love you!!
- Signed, your biggest fan! :-D
(By the way, if you do a google search on Andy Pettitte by images, the 3rd image is of this blog i wrote back in last May about how 3 years after he left us, i still have the hugest crush on him. tee-hee, isnt that grand? :-D lol).

That is a funny picture of Robbie and Melky. I love seeing them jump up in the air after a good win. Happy Birthday Andy from your other biggest fan! Signing him back did wonders for my heart too!! Thank you Cashman.
